Soup, brilliant Thai salad and beers. Sweet-peppered cream cheese over crackers. And homemade marshmallows for dessert.
The texts?
Walt: "... and Newton says that time 'flows', like river, smoothly from what has come before, up through the present moment, and through on to what will come after. It's an analogy. And then Einstein says no. There is no flow. Time is there. Time is part of the continuum. But there is no flow. So, that being the case, why then does it continue to feel so certainly like a flow? A flow in exactly one direction?"
Matt: "... and it's an ad; an ad addressed to artists, to convince artists to come to what's essentially a tradeshow. A tradeshow at messe frankfurt and sponsored by Deutsche Bank and Nestle ..."
Aki: "... any page will do ... and here is this one ..."
Feynman through Jared: "... and so I learned at a very early age the difference between knowing the name of something and knowing what something really is ..."
Perhaps the first of several.

Two new pieces this week. Both in Austin. Both with set design from Lisa.
Here's a bit from her mail.
"I have a couple of pieces that are showing in the New Works Festival at UT. The first is a photo exhibit
for a friend's thesis project. By the Hand of Mother explores the stories of eight women who decide to take
the lives of their children through a series of photographed staged scenarios. This is showing all week in the Winship Theatre Bldg and is very intense.
The second is also dark and moody, but fun at the same time. Ashes Ashes is showing on Wednesday (tomorrow) at 9pm and on Saturday at 2pm in the Oscar Brockett theatre (where Katrina was). It is a piece for young audiences about pollution, myth and hope."
The photo's from the flyer for Ashes.
At Uchi, with Justin. A parade of delights that night at the bar. Denver that next morning.
The wines?
Crios torrontes.
Then Barbera d'Asti and label tells us "Marchesi di Barolo".
Later Chateau de Racaud Lupiac. And, with dessert, La Villa Moscato.
This is the right way to leave, and to return to it.

Projection, blue onto the floor from the ceiling. History, possibly historiography, read aloud. And cello. Performance was Friday at Creative Research Labs on east MLK. Headed over with Jared after dinner and met up with Aki afterwards. Check out Katalin on the left, with text. Cellist on the right.
Pic from the rehearsals.
